Religion and Politics

You know, I get it. No free rides. If you are a black man born in poverty, if you don't have brains, are a bit homely and don't have any special skills, then what? Go to work at McDonald's? Sell Drugs? And if you get sick, Drop Dead? Access to health care should be a basic human right, not a privilege. Our President gets it. Then i see comments on FB saying that Pelosi had plastic surgery on the taxpayers dime. that is insulting and trivializes the need for health care for all.

Republicans are elitist, they use lies and half-truths and fear to keep their hold on power and money. they agree with the queen who said let them eat cake. It amazes me that in the 21st century there are still so many people who just don't get it. We are all in this together. All human beings are entitled to basic human necessities of which health care is a part. I love my country. But, I don't agree with or like some of the policies we impose on others. And I don't agree with those who believe being white and rich entitles you to special privilege. This country uses the majority of this world's resources and gives back very little.

This country was founded on freedom of religion. People left Europe to be free from religious persecution. We find ourselves there again, because religious organizations deem sex between same sex people an abomination before their god. And so, laws have been past to take civil liberties away from these people based on these beliefs. Is this not religious persecution?

Women are being attacked, according to the religious belief that we do not have the right to determine our own destinies because of what's between our legs. Why is this allowed to stand? Where is the right to pursue happiness and liberty for all? Where do men get off thinking they know better what's right for women?  Where do people get off thinking it is sin to abort a fetus, but God has ordained it ok to kill the doctor's preforming the proceedure?

I thank God for Barack Obama and his courage in standing up for the rights of ALL!!!

People who claim to believe in Jesus would do well to study what has been written about him, his words, his actions.  Jesus said, what you do unto the least of these you do unto me.  So if they are not going to honor the separation of church and state, perhaps they should at the very least follow Jesus' example and words.

Change has come

I am so excited about today. President-elect Barack Obama will be sworn in as president. The excitement of the world as well as America is palatable.

Change has come. I'm listing a link to a video that touched my heart and demonstrates the togetherness we the people are embracing with the election of this amazing young man.

Please remember you/we are the change. Do something to be the change.

In the words of St. Francis of Assisi:

Lord, make me an instrument of your peace,
Where there is hatred, let me sow love;
where there is injury, pardon;
where there is doubt, faith;
where there is despair, hope;
where there is darkness, light;
where there is sadness, joy;
O Divine Master, grant that I may not so much seek
to be consoled as to console;
to be understood as to understand;
to be loved as to love.

For it is in giving that we receive;
it is in pardoning that we are pardoned;
and it is in dying that we are born to eternal life.

Live in the moment, each moment of now.
Strive to be the best of who you are in each moment of now.

This is the change that is needed.

Accountability

What is accountability? why is there no accountability? Is it the bleeding hearts democrats? Maybe it's the upper class above the law republicans? We of the world, especially of America take, consume, bleed and very few of us give back. How do you make people take responsibility? Can government do it? Can the religeous organizations do it? If so, why isn't it working? We are in denial? We don't care? We think it's hopeless so why try?

Where is the spirit of the founding fathers? Why is it founding fathers and not founding parents? Why does our government support going to the rescue of women of other countries and yet still persist in upholding the glass ceiling for women in this country?

Is satan real? Should we blame him? Is God just not interested anymore, should we blame him? Why is God considered a him? If man invented God that would explain why it's a him. Statistics show man is more likely to commit attrocities against other men and especially women. Maybe male means satan?

Many spend their lives trying to answer some of these questions, and have forever. And yet we still don't know the truth. Why is that? If you read 'Conversations with God' it gives good reasons for all the mess we find ourselves in. But, it would require changing our mindset about things that have been passed down from generations. We don't want to do that, apparently.

Power, money and greed seem to drive us more than anything else. We are destroying our home. No matter what our flag looks like. No matter what our skin color is. No matter what we believe or don't believe. One fact is becoming more clear everyday, we are destroying this planet. The rats are losing the race because they are not taking care of their home.

Maybe we need to make our elected officials accountable to make peace, make all 'people' free, give all people equal rights to life, liberty and the persuit of happiness. And we need to figure out that it takes a community to raise a child. It takes 'we the people' to make a change toward accountablility for all.

BARACK OBAMA

What's going on? Again, a black man has to defend being black?

Give me a break.

Why doesn't Mccain have to defend being white? Why doesn't Hillary Clinton have to defend being a white woman? I don't know if this is just a political ploy to take the focus from the issues, or if it is legitimate white fear. Either way it makes me sick.

It's 2008 people!!!!!!!

If any of you racist are also church goers, what about Jesus? Do you think he was lily white? Get your head out of your butt.

Mr. Obama should be judged the way we would all like to be judged by his actions and words in context and in light of reality......the real reality, not by the reality of those who's agenda is status quo of power and control.

I also hope Mr. Obama's campaign is not about using the 'race card' to gain support.

From what I've seen and heard he seems a very good man who in earnest wishes to help the regular people (of any color) who are struggling from the Bush economy. And perhaps to make Washington accountable again to the people. Wouldn't that be a wonderful thing? I certainly think so.

Moral Majority or Conservative Bloopers again

First let me extend my prayers to those who have suffered and lost to hurricane Katrina, and the current administration. As evidenced, a deadly combination.

I hear the 'conservatives' once again blamed the 'liberals' for their own wrong choices. Liberals, are responsible for the current fiasco in Iraq. I've learned the cornerstone of conservative thinking, is blame, blame, blame and deny deny deny.

The PRO' lifers, didn't give a rat's butt about the people dying and hanging on by a thread in New Orleans. I suppose they are not really constitutes of the 'conservatives' so they didn't really notice all that much, eh?

Conservatives are like ducks, the shit just rolls off of their backs, because a big part of 'we the people' are more concerned with listening to their rhetoric, than in watching their actions. I always thought actions spoke louder than words, but, I guess you've got to be watching actions to note them.

The man George W supposedly loves and worships, always preached 'turn the other cheek', 'all are equal in the eyes of God'. But, if you are poor, black or female, ol' Georgie boy does not really have the time, except if it comes to censoring or holding you back and down. Or, of course, as in the case of the war on Iraq, you have something that brings more money to the rich....his constitutes.

How much will 'we the people' take? How many 'freedoms' will 'we the people' lose, before 'we the people' wake up and see 'conservatism' for what it really is, in the republican party and the so called 'moral majority'. Just a way to control with fear, and a way to get what they want....Power and money.....And more control over 'we the people'.

Maybe we can look at katrina as 'God's" way to make us look at ol' Georgie boy's real mindset and to question all of his 'moral judgments'.

pissed off again, me
